NPMHU Arthur S. Vallone National Scholarship Program
Committee Names Vallone Scholars for 2005

The NPMHU Arthur S. Vallone National Scholarship Program has awarded twenty-five new financial scholarships for the 2005-2006 school year. This program, which is in its fifth year, is designed to assist deserving mail handlers or their immediate family members with the difficult task of financing their college education. Earlier this year, the NPMHU National Executive Board dedicated this scholarship program to the late Arthur S. Vallone – who served our great union with distinction until his untimely passing in January of this year. The NPMHU is extremely proud to honor Arthur’s legacy by awarding this year’s recipients as the first round of Vallone Scholars.

The NPMHU Scholarship Program awards scholarships in the annual amount of at least $1,000, renewable for up to four (4) years or until the completion of the degree, whichever occurs first (for a maximum $4,000 per recipient over 4 years). In addition to the 25 new recipients for the current 2005-2006 school year, the NPMHU Scholarship Program will be providing additional $1,000 scholarship payments for those continuing students who were initially awarded scholarships in 2002, 2003, and 2004, and who are continuing their education during this new school year. In 2001 there were 68 scholarships awarded, in 2002 there were 43 additional recipients, in 2003 the program added 35 new recipients to the program, and last year the NPMHU granted scholarships to 30 additional winners. We have listed the names and photographs of our 25 new Vallone Scholars below. Congratulations go out to all of our deserving scholarship winners.
